Rosecolored

I moved to North Carolina after my gap year to attend The Excel College. These paintings aim to capture my season there. What was first unfamiliar turned into my favorite place. Black Mountain was a comfortable place of connection and awestruck wonder. I learned to fall in love. From sunrise runs to prayer burns in the prayer room, vollyball at veterans park and picnics on the Blue Ridge Parkway, my heart was captured. Paraphrasing from my boss at Ridgecrest Conference Center, 'Memories are one of the only things we take from our past that's our own. It's nice that we remember things better than they were.'
